The Champions league was an invitational division, with invites only going out to Super League teams, and A grade teams who had made a final throughout 2014.
The best teams in the UK battled it out in a hotly contested division, with multiple cracking matches throughout that were won by only 1-2 point margins.
The 2014 Pig n’ Porter Tag Rugby Festival champions, Tumeke Hippos topped the group stages, however were defeated by the Southfield Sharks by one point and were given a major scare by Finsbury Park champions, Speight’s who were leading 5-2 with only four minutes remaining, only for Tumeke Hippos to stage a major comeback to seal a 7-5 victory.
In a spectacular final with brilliant displays of Tag Rugby by both sides, Tumeke Hippos managed to seal the nail biter, 7-6 to claim the 2014 London Tag Rugby Championships – champion’s division title! Tumeke Hippo’s inspirational leader, Mark Lee produced some big plays in crucial moments of the match to claim the player of the final award.
In the B grade which was contested by 16 teams, it was Bite the Bullet from Wimbledon and the Cyborg Sharpshooters from Reading who were to meet in the final. Bite the Bullet produced a dominant performance to walk away 8-3 victors and claim the silverware.
The C grade division was also contested by 16 teams and saw God Loves A Tagger from Balham defeat Vicious & Delicious from Wandsworth in the final.
In other finals, the B grade plate division title was won by Duck Duck Goose and the C grade plate division title was won by Tagabell and the Lost Boys.
After the tournament, all the Taggers; who came from teams all across London & Reading joined forces to party and celebrate a great summer of Tag, for the next six hours!
